Reeves Young Celebrates the Opening of Our Savannah Office

Reeves Young officially opened the doors to our new Savannah office at 33 Bull Street, marking an exciting milestone in our continued growth across Coastal Georgia.

To celebrate, we welcomed trade partners, industry partners, owners, clients, and members of the Savannah community into our new space for an open house and ribbon-cutting celebration. Representatives from the City of Savannah and the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce joined our team to officially cut the ribbon and help us celebrate this next chapter for Reeves Young.

While the office may be new, our relationships and work throughout the region are already well underway. Reeves Young is currently working on several projects with the City of Savannah, Chatham County, and other surrounding communities. Establishing a permanent home in the heart of Savannah allows our team to be even closer to the clients, partners, projects, and communities we serve.

The evening was also an opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Savannah unique. Guests enjoyed a charcuterie spread that took over our break room and received custom mugs featuring artwork inspired by some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and details. From the location of our office to the smallest touches throughout the event, we wanted the celebration to feel connected to the city we’re excited to call home.

Opening an office at 33 Bull Street represents more than adding another Reeves Young location. It’s an investment in the relationships we’re building throughout Coastal Georgia and in the opportunities we see ahead.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate, as well as the clients, partners, and community members who have welcomed our team to Savannah. We couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead as we continue to grow our presence, build new relationships, and deliver projects throughout Savannah and the surrounding region.

The Photo in the Pocket: Why We Work Safe

Look closely at a Reeves Young safety vest and you’ll find a small detail with a much bigger meaning.

On the top pocket are four words: Why I Work Safe.

Inside that pocket, you’ll often find the answer.

Across Reeves Young, employees are encouraged to print a photo of their personal reason for working safely and carry it with them in their vest. For some, it’s a spouse or their children. For others, it’s a parent, friend, dog, or another four-legged family member waiting for them at home.

The photos are different, but the message behind them is the same.

Work Safe, Home Safe

Work Safe, Home Safe is more than our safety message. It’s the culture we work to create across every project, office, business unit, and role at Reeves Young.

Construction requires policies, procedures, training, PPE, planning, and accountability to keep our people safe. All of those things matter. But behind every safety rule is an even more important reason to follow it: making sure our people go home safely to the people and things they love.

That’s why the photo sits where it does.

It’s there when someone puts on their vest at the beginning of the day. It’s there during a safety meeting, while walking a jobsite, and when a decision needs to be made in the field. It serves as a simple, personal reminder that working safely isn’t only about protecting yourself.

It’s about who is waiting for you at home.

Everyone Has a Why

One of the things that makes the Why I Work Safe pocket special is that there isn’t a right answer for what belongs inside.

It might hold a family photo from vacation, a picture of someone’s kids, a wedding photo, a best friend, or a favorite dog. What matters is that the person wearing the vest knows exactly why that photo is there.

And while safety may look different depending on someone’s role, that idea applies to everyone at Reeves Young. Whether you’re working in the field or the office, in Water Resources, Heavy Civil, Commercial, Industrial, or somewhere in between, we all share the same responsibility to look out for ourselves and the people around us.

Because at the end of every shift, meeting, deadline, and project, the most important thing we build is a livelihood that allows our people to return home safely.

So, if you ever see someone wearing a Reeves Young safety vest, take a closer look at that top pocket.

From the Classroom to the Jobsite: Savannah Engineering Academy Visits Chatham County Public Safety Facility

In June, Reeves Young’s Savannah Commercial team, alongside our partners at Thomas & Hutton, welcomed students and faculty from the Savannah Engineering Academy to the Chatham County Multi-Agency Public Safety Facility for a behind-the-scenes look at an active construction site.

The visit gave students the opportunity to step outside the classroom and see engineering and construction concepts come to life in the field. Wearing PPE and touring the project alongside members of the team, students learned about several key components of the construction process, including sitework, concrete, tilt panel systems, storm drainage, and the coordination required to keep a complex project moving safely and efficiently.

The project’s location also gave students a look at some of the unique challenges construction teams encounter in the field. With work taking place near an active airport, careful planning, communication, and safety coordination are essential throughout construction.

Beyond the technical aspects of the project, the visit provided an opportunity for students to see the variety of people and career paths it takes to bring a project from plans to reality. From engineers and project managers to superintendents and skilled tradespeople, successful projects depend on teams with different areas of expertise working toward a common goal.

For students already exploring engineering, the experience offered a firsthand look at how what they are learning today can translate into future careers and have a lasting impact on the communities around them.

At Reeves Young, opportunities like this are about more than showing students an active jobsite. They are a chance to invest in the next generation of our industry, share the knowledge of our teams and partners, and strengthen our relationships within the communities where we live and work.

A New Tradition Begins: Reeves Young’s First Nashville Family Day

This year marked a special first for Reeves Young as our Nashville team gathered at the Nashville Zoo for our first annual Nashville Family Day.

As our presence in Nashville continues to grow, so does the community of people behind it. Family Day gave our employees the opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, bring along their spouses, kids, and families, and spend time together outside of the office and jobsite.

Our team enjoyed a private gathering at the zoo complete with food, activities, and plenty of time to explore. More than anything, the day was an opportunity for our Nashville employees and their families to connect with one another and celebrate how far the team has come.

When Reeves Young first expanded into Nashville, we knew that building a successful office would take more than simply pursuing new projects. It meant building a team, developing lasting relationships, and becoming part of the community. Hosting our first Family Day is another exciting milestone in that growth.

At Reeves Young, Building Better Livelihoods starts with our people, and the families who support them are an important part of that story. As our Nashville team continues to grow, we’re excited to create traditions like Family Day that grow right alongside it.

Step Right Up! Bring Your Child to Work Day Goes to the Carnival

This summer, Reeves Young welcomed some of our favorite visitors to the office for our annual Bring Your Child to Work Day, and this year, we brought the carnival with us!

With school out for summer, the day was all about giving our team members and their kids an opportunity to spend time together, have some fun, and get a glimpse into where their parents spend their workdays.

Our carnival-themed celebration transformed the office with games, activities, and plenty of treats. Kids could try their hand at carnival games, stop by for face painting, design their own custom trucker hats, grab some ice cream, and spend the day enjoying everything we had planned.

Of course, Bring Your Child to Work Day is about more than showing our kids where Mom or Dad works.

It’s an opportunity to bring two important parts of our lives together and let our families experience a little bit of the culture, people, and relationships that make Reeves Young special.

Between the face paint, custom hats, carnival games, and plenty of sugar, there were smiles everywhere. More importantly, our team had the chance to slow down during a busy summer and enjoy some time together with their families.

At Reeves Young, Building Better Livelihoods has always been about more than the projects we build. It’s about creating a place where our people and their families feel connected to the community around them.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s carnival a success and to all of our smallest team members who joined us for the fun. We already can’t wait to see what next year’s Bring Your Child to Work Day has in store!

Back at the Aquarium: Celebrating Atlanta Family Day

Family Day is a Reeves Young tradition we look forward to every year, bringing our employees and their families together for a day focused on the people who support us both inside and outside of work.

This year, Atlanta Family Day felt a little extra special as we returned to the Georgia Aquarium, a location that longtime Reeves Young employees may remember from Family Days dating back to around 2015.

A lot has changed since our team first gathered there. Reeves Young has grown significantly, expanded into new markets and cities, welcomed countless new team members, and taken on projects throughout the Southeast. Returning to the aquarium gave us a fun opportunity to revisit a familiar place while celebrating the much larger Reeves Young family we have today.

Employees were joined by spouses, kids, and family members for a day together in the heart of Atlanta. Our group had a private space with food, facepainting, and activities, along with plenty of time to explore the aquarium. One of the highlights of the day was gathering everyone together to enjoy the dolphin show.

While Family Day is always filled with plenty of fun, its purpose goes beyond the activities. It’s an opportunity for employees from different teams, departments, business units, offices, and jobsites to spend time together and introduce their families to the people they work alongside every day.

At Reeves Young, Building Better Livelihoods starts with our people, and the families who support them are an important part of our story. Family Day gives us an opportunity each year to celebrate those relationships and spend time together away from our normal routines.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Georgia Aquarium for this year’s Atlanta Family Day. It was great to return to a familiar place, make some new memories, and continue a Reeves Young tradition that has grown right alongside our company.

On the Road: Inside Reeves Young’s Fall Career Fair Tour

Pack the banner stand, load up the swag, queue up the playlist. It’s career fair season, and the Reeves Young team is hitting the road.

Starting September 1st, we’re kicking off a multi-state career fair tour that will take us to more than a dozen college campuses across the Southeast over the next two months. Think of it as a road show: same team, same story, thirteen different stops, and a new set of Bulldogs, Tigers, Wildcats, and Owls to meet at every one.
