Lake Lanier stretches off the northeast corner of metro Atlanta. Its tentacles winding around countless islands and peninsulas extending up through the Georgia Piedmont region. Of the reservoir’s nearly 700 miles of shoreline, only a fraction are in Gwinnett County. However, the lake plays a pivotal role in the daily lives of every Gwinnett County resident, even if they live nowhere nears its shore.
