Project Description

Location: Atlanta, GA
Surface Area: 550,000 SF

The largest aquarium in the world when it was built, the facility has 550,000 square foot (or 13 acres) of covered space. The Georgia Aquarium was a signature project for both Reeves and Eric Young, firm President/CEO.

Eric Young was the construction executive-in-charge of the Aquarium while employed by his former firm. He managed the entirety of the $250M project; it was his last project prior to joining Reeves Young.

The heavy civil component of the project included installation of a new 48” RCP storm drain system and a new 18” DIP sewer line along Baker Street and Spring Street to handle the increased capacity from the Aquarium. This project also included Traffic control, Dewatering, Shoring, Tunneling, 14’ diameter Shafts, Demolition and Asphalt Paving.
