City hires construction manager for aquatics center, will help determine where to build

Dalton City Council has approved a construction management contract with Reeves Young for a $23 million aquatics center. The exact location is still undecided, with James Brown Park being reconsidered due to cost among other concerns. The Dalton Convention Center is being considered as an alternative. The aquatics center will include a competition pool, a multipurpose pool, and seating for spectators. The project initially aimed to be near Dalton Mall but faced obstacles with property owners.
